Designated Project Manager, Tony Marnell, took charge of developing the site, which became known as “Project Paradise.” Initially, it was intended to be a scaled-down version of the Mirage, another successful venture from MGM Resorts. However, after seeing the opportunity to create something truly unique and impressive, Marnell envisioned an entirely new type of resort that would revolutionize the Las Vegas landscape.
The Bellagio Concept
Marnell’s vision centered around creating a resort inspired by Italy, specifically Lake Como’s picturesque town of Bellagio. To transport guests to this luxurious setting, architects created a sprawling complex featuring grand fountains, manicured gardens, and opulent architecture reminiscent of European villas. Upon arrival, visitors would be greeted with an imposing façade adorned with elegant marble columns.
